We, at Adoption Attorneys Kirsh & Kirsh, P.C. (“Kirsh & Kirsh”), do NOT discriminate based upon the race of our prospective adoptive parent clients, but the fact of the matter is that most families in the United States looking to adopt are white. This is true whether you go to a national adoption agency, local adoption agency, or adoption attorneys like Kirsh & Kirsh. We understand that birth mothers often want a family of their race or heritage to adopt and will try our best to match them with such a family, but that is not always possible. However, any family we present to an expectant mother to consider will have been thoroughly investigated, screened, and educated about adopting transracially. While matching the birth mother’s race is an important consideration in which family she wants to adopt, race or ethnic heritage should not be the only consideration. For that reason, many of the birth mothers who come to us to find a family choose a family based upon other factors because they believe the family they have chosen will love, treasure, and give their child the best life possible, while still honoring the child’s race and/or heritage.

POSITIVE ADOPTION LANGUAGE DISCLAIMER:  Please understand that these blog posts are written in a way to use language that people use when searching for help with their adoption plans.  Unfortunately, while all of us understand what positive adoption language means, most expectant moms that come to us at first do not understand what that means. The most common search term on the Internet for expectant moms is “how do I give up my baby for adoption”.  If we do not include those words in our blog posts, and instead put “how do I create an adoption plan for my baby” then our website will not show up in most expectant mom’s search results in Google.

If you already have kids and cannot raise another one due to an untimely pregnancy, unplanned pregnancy, or unexpected pregnancy, you may want to consider putting your baby up for adoption or more correctly, making an adoption plan for the baby you are carrying. If you contact a national adoption agency, local adoption agency, or adoption professionals like Adoption Attorneys Kirsh & Kirsh, P.C. (“Kirsh & Kirsh”), you can learn about adoption. For sure, at Kirsh & Kirsh, you can get that information at no cost to you and without worrying about being hounded to pursue adoption by them or prospective adoptive parents.

If you have an unexpected pregnancy, unplanned pregnancy, unwanted pregnancy, or untimely pregnancy and are thinking about giving your baby up for adoption, or, more correctly, making an adoption plan for the baby, and you may want to think about the following:

  1. As much as you may want to “undo” the pregnancy, you cannot. Abortion will end the pregnancy but not change the fact of the pregnancy.  Therefore, you need to think about what impact the decision you make now will affect you going forward.
  2. If you were not trying to get pregnant and were not now pregnant, would this be the time in your life when you would plan to have a child?
  3. What goals do you have for yourself? How will raising a child or another child impact those goals? (If you don’t have goals for yourself – why not?)
  4. What goals do you have for the child you are now carrying? Does your parenting the child or making an adoption plan or another alternative give you the best chance of assuring that your child reaches those goals?
