Adoption process

MY DAUGHTER IS FACING AN UNPLANNED TEENAGE PREGNANCY. HOW DOES THE ADOPTION PROCESS WORK?

Discovering that your teenage daughter is pregnant can be a life-altering moment for both of you. It can be overwhelming to navigate the emotions and decisions ahead. If you and your daughter are considering adoption, understanding the adoption process can help you both make informed choices.

Why Consider Adoption?

Adoption allows your daughter to give the child the opportunity for life and to be loved, even if she isn’t ready to be a mother. As the birth mother, she gets to decide what type of adoption is best for her and her child.

Open Adoption

She can remain in contact and be a part of her child’s life.

Semi-Open Adoption

There is less contact, but she can exchange pictures and letters and be in contact with the adoptive parents.

Closed Adoption

There is no contact between her and the adoptive family.

Adoption will give her the freedom to go after her dreams and maximize her potential, knowing that the child will grow up in a safe, loving family.

Positive adoption language Disclaimer:

Please understand that these blogs are written in a way to use language that people use when searching for help with their adoption plans. Unfortunately, while all of us understand what positive adoption language means, most expectant moms who come to us at first do not understand what that means. The most common search term on the Internet for pregnant moms is “How do I give up my baby for adoption.” If we do not include those words in our blog posts and instead put “How do I create an adoption plan for my baby,” then our website will not show up in most expectant moms’ search results in Google.
